Minutes for September 2023 Meeting
This meeting was held on September 2 at the Ft Christmas field and called to order at about 1000 AM by president Raed Elazzawi. Approximately 22 members were present.
Minutes of the August meeting were read and approved.
The Treasurer’s report was presented by Doug Leonard, there are 41 members listed on the club roster.
Old Business
Raed announced that the club has been accepted to participate in the ‘Maker’s Faire’ at the Orlando Fair Grounds on November 5 and 6. There are slots for 4 people to man a club display to show models and explain our hobby. Volunteers are requested.
Lee Bailey reported that embroidery work for club hat patches would require the purchase of an expensive sewing machine attachment. However, embroidery work on hand towels would be feasible.
Permission for use of the Kenny World field for Tangerine has been granted. Details for the event are posted on RC Groups.
New Business
Raed announced that the Buzzards are officially designated by the FAA as a FRIA flying site and so we are exempt from RID use and cleared to an altitude limit of 1500 ft. It is imperative that all members comply with the FAA registration rules and obtain the TRUST certification.
The UCF senior design team requested help with their project development. Raed will let us know when we can meet with the team.
Lee Bailey will obtain the manganese to treat the power field area and a work party to apply it will be scheduled.
Lee obtained a new sign for the front gate and also got some nice banners in the process.
Bill Staley suggested that we hold a club cookout sometime in October. Discussions will continue.
The meeting was adjourned at about 1025 AM.
