Minutes for April 2023 Meeting
This meeting was held on April 8 at the Ft Christmas field and called to order at about 1000 AM by president Raed Elazzawi. Approximately 18 members and guests were present.
Minutes of the March meeting were read and approved.
The Treasurer’s report was presented by Doug Leonard, there are 38 members on the club roster.
Old Business
FAA FRIA process – The AMA has acknowledged receipt of our survey form but action by the FAA will come much later.
The Buzzards hosted the F5J South East Tour event at Mac Hodges Field in Americus, Georgia, on 17-19 March. Twenty seven pilots participated in cold and windy conditions.
FSS6 was held April 1 at the St Augustine site. This was a 2 meter F5J RES ‘Everything’ event where about 9 pilots participated in tough windy conditions.
New Business
Raed reminded all that the Ft Christmas field will be closed to flying on 15 and 29 April due to other events hosted by the park.
FSS7&8 was changed to a Sunday only event on 4/30 due to the Saturday conflict with park activities.
Rob Blakeslee offered to host another float fly session on Saturday (4/29) since the field will be closed.
Former member Bob Windsor rejoined the club.
A motion to purchase a new mower with a wider cut was approved for a cost of up to $4500. Lee Bailey and Keith Sherwell will make the purchase and sell the old mower.
Jim Tomasetti volunteered to test a soil sample from the ‘electric flying’ area in order to guide improvement to the grass growth.
One of our snowbird members (Jeff) provided a second wind sock located in the north east corner next to the donkey pen.
The meeting was adjourned at about 1030 AM.
