Minutes for February 2023 Meeting
This meeting was held on February 11 at the Ft Christmas field and called to order at about 1000 AM by president Raed Elazzawi. Approximately 15 members were present.
Minutes of the January meeting were read and approved.
The Treasurer’s report was read by Raed since Doug Leonard was out of town, there are 37 members on the club roster.
Old Business
FSS1&2 contests held on 7&8 January were successful.
FSS3&4 ALES contests were sponsored by the Pompano club and conducted here on 4-5 February. Weather conditions were very challenging – wind on Saturday and rain on Sunday.
Wind sock at our front gate was replaced by the efforts of Lee Bailey, Wayne Collier, and Bill Staley.
FAA FRIA process – Raed responded to a survey sent by AMA regarding application for the FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA) designation for our flying site. The AMA is coordinating this process with the FAA and RC clubs are advised to be patient.
New Business
FSS 5 is a major DLG contest that will be held 24-26 Feb at the LARKS field in Tavares. Named the Florida Ice Breaker and F3KTeam Select event, many champion level DLG pilots are expected to participate.
The Buzzards will host an F5J South East Team Select event at Mac Hodges Field in Americus, Georgia, on 17-19 March.
New member Luke Huybrechts was voted in as a snowbird member.
The club purchased an extendable pole for removing airplanes from trees and it will be kept by the mower.
The meeting was adjourned at about 1015 AM.
