Minutes for the June 2024 Meeting<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This meeting was held on June 1 at the Ft Christmas field and called to order at about 1000 AM by president Raed Elazzawi. Approximately 11 members were present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minutes of the May meeting were read and approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Treasurer\u2019s report was not available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Old Business <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wayne Collier introduced a prospective member, Jason, to RC flying with his Slow Stick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mickey Nowell will purchase the battery for his clock system and present the bill to the Treasurer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A group of 5 or 6 fliers met for a float fly on May 18. Windy conditions were challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New Business <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Buzzards were awarded a $400 check from the AMA \u2018Take off and Grow Grant\u2019 based on our outreach efforts, such as the Maker\u2019s Faire. We will use this money to support our continued outreach work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several members participated in the Mid South Soaring contest in South Carolina during the Memorial Day weekend. This was a major event with 36 fliers in F3RES and 46 in F5J.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Next contest is FSS 8 on 8 and 9 June in the Gainesville area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was adjourned at about 1009 AM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
