Minutes for June 2016 Meeting<\/p>\n
This meeting was held June 11 at the Christmas field. The meeting was called to order at 10:00 AM by president Raed Elazzawi. A total of ten members were present.<\/p>\n
Minutes of the May meeting were read and approved.<\/p>\n
Lewis Gray read the Treasurer\u2019s reports for April and May. There is still income to be received and recorded from recent contest activity. It was noted that the cost of AMA sanction for contests has increased from $20 to $25. The club has a paid membership of 34 members.<\/p>\n
Old Business<\/u><\/p>\n
The Club has submitted an interworking agreement to Adam Nehr, who wants to conduct model rocket operations at the field. Mr. Nehr has obtained the required liability insurance and submitted certification to the County and to The Club. The first launch is planned on or about July 1. A member expressed concern about dry conditions and risk of fire due to launch activity. The President explained that Nehr will monitor fire conditions and make launch decisions based on a standard scale. It was also noted that Nehr is a member of a community-based rocketry organization analogous to the AMA, and that he is initially limited to 800\u2019 launch height.<\/p>\n
Shirts will be distributed today to those who have ordered them.<\/p>\n
New Business<\/u><\/p>\n
The President indicated there is renewed enthusiasm for improving the electric field among the members, as well as improving the road leading to the sailplane field. He indicated that Steve was working with a friend who will either help The Club with the improvements, or help us find someone who can do the job. The field will be measured today to determine the amount of fill required. Seasonal weather conditions and the potential for creating muddy conditions were discussed, as well as the possibility of putting the fill work off until September. It was also mentioned that fill is available from the local landfill, although the composition of the fill is unknown.<\/p>\n
The meeting was adjourned at about 10:20.<\/p>\n
